Lerdo keeps nut-harvest security operation active through November
Lerdo authorities will maintain preventive patrols and a checkpoint through the end of November to protect the harvest and transport of walnuts. The municipal police, Mexican Army and about 50 producers are participating in measures aimed at preventing extortion and other crimes.

A security operation covering the harvest and transport of walnuts in Lerdo, Durango, will remain active through the end of November, municipal Public Security Director José Luis Olivares Guzmán said. According to Durango Press, the strategy is intended to prevent extortion and other crimes during the period when the agricultural product is moving through the municipality.
Authorities reported no incidents during the first week of preventive monitoring. The operation includes a review checkpoint near the community of Los Ángeles, while a municipal police patrol conducts preventive rounds with Mexican Army personnel. The teams respond to citizen reports and carry out preventive inspections as part of the security measures.
Durango Press reported that producers are also participating by issuing transport guides, which help authorities verify the shipments and establish the legal origin of the walnuts. About 50 producers from León Guzmán, La Loma, Juan E. García and Sapioriz are involved. The operation will continue in the coming weeks, especially during the period of greatest movement of the crop.
