According to Infobae México, the two suspects allegedly fled on a motorcycle after shots were fired at the facade, and the first investigative line points to possible extortion. The attack occurred on Friday night, September 18, in the Enrique Jiménez alley in Juchitán's Novena Sección, in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Infobae México reported that investigators used images gathered during initial inquiries and intelligence work to identify the alleged participants. The Fiscalía General del Estado de Oaxaca said its Regional Prosecutor's Office for the Isthmus was coordinating the investigation with the Security Cabinet while authorities worked to locate the pair and establish more about the motive.
Investigators secured three ballistic items at the scene, according to the Fiscalía. The agency said the evidence would be analyzed to determine the characteristics of the weapon or weapons used, but it did not say whether the items came from a single caliber. No injuries were reported, although the gunfire damaged the home's facade; the official report also did not say whether Guerra was inside at the time.
Guerra had drawn national attention days earlier after working with the Biulú workshop on the embroidered black jacket worn by President Claudia Sheinbaum during the September 15 Independence Grito ceremony at the National Palace. Guerra, a poet, artisan, translator and Muxe Zapotec activist, founded Creaciones Biulú after the 2017 earthquake to support regional embroiderers and preserve clothing linked to the Isthmus's traditional dress.
