Reporting and context
Mexico State prosecutors obtained arrest warrants in custody for three men they identify as suspected members of La Familia Michoacana in a case involving the kidnapping and killing of a state police officer, La Prensa Ciudad de México reported. The suspects were identified as Israel “N,” Ismael “N” and Ramiro “N.”
According to the State Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation concerns an incident on June 1 in Tejupilco. Prosecutors allege that the three men took the officer by force in a vehicle and later fled. The victim was found dead hours later in a vacant lot, with gunshot wounds and wrapped in a mat. Authorities said the attack followed the officer’s alleged refusal to comply with demands from suspected members of the criminal group.
La Prensa reported that the three men are being held at the Valle de Bravo penitentiary and are facing proceedings in a separate case. They are being investigated for kidnapping resulting in death; the allegations have not been adjudicated. Prosecutors said that if convicted, each could receive a sentence of up to 140 years.
