Authorities say Lino N, known as El Patrón or El Señor, was arrested in the State of Mexico in an operation tied to investigations in Morelos.

Reporting and context

Federal agents arrested Lino N, known as “El Patrón” or “El Señor,” in Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, on Tuesday, November 3, according to Azteca Noticias. Authorities identify him as an alleged leader of Los Linos and link him to homicides and extortion in Cuernavaca and other parts of Morelos.

Azteca Noticias reported that personnel from the federal Security and Citizen Protection Ministry and the Attorney General's Office's Criminal Investigation Agency carried out the operation using information from the National Intelligence Center. Omar García Harfuch announced the arrest in a statement reproduced by the outlet.

The statement links Los Linos to extortion, homicide and vehicle theft, with a presence in Cuautla, Emiliano Zapata, Tlaltizapán, Yautepec, Jiutepec and Cuernavaca. Those descriptions of the organization and the detainee's role come from the authorities.

García Harfuch connected the arrest to a May 6 operation in Yautepec in which eight alleged members of the same group were detained, including Lino's brothers Rodolfo and Carlos Adame Sotelo. Two federal security personnel were wounded in that earlier intervention and received specialist treatment; one required emergency surgery.

The latest arrest brought the number detained in those linked operations to nine, according to the statement. It described the operation as part of the national anti-extortion strategy and coordination with the Morelos government, and thanked the State of Mexico government for its assistance.
