Tijuana arrest tied to alleged trafficking of minor

Authorities in Baja California arrested Jesús Antonio “N” in Tijuana on Sept. 1 in connection with an investigation into the alleged trafficking of a minor for aggravated sexual exploitation, El Imparcial reported. The Fiscalía General del Estado said officers carried out an arrest warrant at about 6 p.m. on Insurgentes Boulevard in the El Lago neighborhood. The case remains an allegation, and the judicial authority will determine his legal status and any responsibility that may apply.

According to the investigation by the State Investigation Agency and its Arrests Group, the events began in June 2023, when the alleged victim was 15 and looking for work through Facebook. Authorities said a profile identified as “Sofia Lázaro” allegedly offered her work as a “companion,” after which she and a friend of the same age were allegedly contacted to provide sexual services for money. The Fiscalía said the teenagers were summoned to a commercial establishment near Plaza 2000 on July 5, 2023.

Investigators allege that the victim was taken by taxi to two meetings that day and, on July 11, was picked up again by a driver authorities identified as Jesús Antonio “N.” She was allegedly taken to a motel on Insurgentes Boulevard for two more meetings. El Imparcial reported that July 20, 2023, was the last date authorities identified for the alleged activity. The Fiscalía said it will continue investigating crimes affecting children and adolescents and provide protection and access to justice for victims.
