Panter Bélico sang cartel corridos at official Chiapas celebration
Infobae reported that Panter Bélico performed songs about El Mencho, El Chapo and El Mayo during San Cristóbal de Las Casas's municipal Independence Day celebration on September 15.
Panter Bélico performed corridos about El Mencho, El Chapo and El Mayo Zambada at the municipal Independence Day celebration in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, on September 15, according to Infobae's September 18 report.
The concert took place in the central park outside the Museo de San Cristóbal, known as Musac, after Mayor Fabiola Ricci led the Grito ceremony. Infobae reported that the municipal government's official Facebook broadcast included footage of the performance.
The set included four songs highlighted in the report: “El primero,” “El dueño del palenque,” “La 701” and “Ismael.” Their lyrics refer to figures associated with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel. Members of the audience sang along, and clips later circulated on TikTok.
The outlet reported that Chiapas had no public-performance ban on narcocorridos in force at publication, while several other Mexican states had introduced restrictions. It recalled a September 2023 penalty involving Panter Bélico and Grupo Arriesgado in Chihuahua, where then-Mayor Marco Bonilla said a bond exceeding 600,000 pesos had been secured.
The singer, whose real name is Arturo González López, left Grupo Arriesgado in 2023 and continued as a solo performer. Municipal Civil Protection reported no incidents during the San Cristóbal celebration and said preventive operations ran before, during and after the event.
The municipal government had not commented on the choice of songs when Infobae published its report.
