Authorities arrest alleged Los Tatus operator in Magdalena Contreras

El Financiero reports that Mexico City authorities arrested José “N,” known as “Odek,” and Brenda “N” during a search of a property in the El Ocotal neighborhood of Magdalena Contreras. According to the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), “Odek” was considered a priority target because of his alleged participation in a cell authorities associate with homicide, extortion, and the purchase, sale, and distribution of drugs. El Financiero says the operation followed investigative and intelligence work by the SSC, coordinated with Mexico City prosecutors and supported by the National Guard and the Navy.

Authorities said the search warrant was executed at an address on Prolongación Carbonera. The SSC reported that José “N,” 30, and Brenda “N,” 27, were found and arrested there, and that officers seized 119 doses of possible marijuana and two firearms. The detainees were informed of their constitutional rights and taken with the seized items to a public prosecutor, who will determine their legal status while the investigation continues. The property was sealed and placed under police protection.

The SSC also reported that José “N” has a 2025 entry in Mexico City’s prison system related to alleged drug dealing for commercial purposes and attempted aggravated robbery. El Financiero attributes to Citizen Security Secretary Pablo Vázquez Camacho the description of “Odek” as an alleged first-level operator of the Los Tatus cell. The SSC further said the group may be linked to extortion, homicide, drug activity, and the collection of protection payments from local merchants.
