68 firearms seized in Rosario, Sinaloa
Los Noticieristas Policiaca reports that Mexican Army and National Guard personnel seized 68 firearms, 6,498 rounds and 145 magazines during Sept. 12 patrols in Rosario, Sinaloa; authorities reported no arrests and referred the material to the FGR in Mazatlán.
Los Noticieristas Policiaca reported that Mexican Army and National Guard personnel, working with the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection and the Attorney General’s Office, seized 68 firearms during patrols in Rosario, Sinaloa, on Sept. 12. The cache included a .50-caliber Barrett rifle, a .50-caliber machine gun, an M1 machine gun, 65 other long guns and tactical equipment.
According to the official military report cited by Los Noticieristas Policiaca, authorities also seized 6,498 rounds of ammunition and 145 magazines. The agencies did not disclose the precise location where the weapons were found or report any arrests. The material was handed over to the FGR in Mazatlán for forensic work and further investigation into its origin and possible links.
The outlet said the operation was presented as part of Mexico’s National Public Security Strategy. The military report added that, during the current administration, the Army, Air Force and National Guard have seized 27,003 firearms, 4,854,347 rounds and 119,780 magazines. Those are cumulative administration figures, separate from the Rosario operation.
