What happened

Infobae reports Lino N was arrested in Ixtapaluca, bringing arrests in linked operations to nine; the earlier eight face weapons and drug proceedings.

Reporting and context

Federal security agents arrested Lino N, known as “El Patrón” or “El Señor,” in Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, according to Infobae México. Authorities identify him as an alleged leader of Los Linos, a group they link to extortion, homicide and vehicle theft in Morelos.

Infobae México reported that the Security and Citizen Protection Ministry and the Attorney General's Office's Criminal Investigation Agency carried out the operation with information from the National Intelligence Center. Omar García Harfuch announced the detention as part of the national anti-extortion strategy and reinforced security efforts in Morelos.

Authorities say the group operates in Cuautla, Emiliano Zapata, Tlaltizapán, Yautepec, Jiutepec and Cuernavaca. The arrest took place with support from State of Mexico authorities and coordination with the Morelos government.

The report connects Lino's detention to a May 6 operation in Yautepec that resulted in eight earlier arrests, including brothers Rodolfo and Carlos Adame Sotelo. Two federal agents were wounded in that clash, one requiring emergency surgery, and a civilian was killed. The new arrest brought the combined total in the linked operations to nine.

In its account of the May case, Infobae reported that authorities seized five long guns, four handguns, 394 rounds of ammunition and 543.9 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, along with magazines, a pickup, phones and 10 prepaid SIM cards. Those seizures belong to the earlier operation.

On May 22, a federal judge ordered the eight earlier detainees to face proceedings on weapons, ammunition and drug-possession charges and imposed mandatory pretrial detention, the outlet reported. The ruling also allowed two months for further investigation. It concerned the earlier eight defendants, rather than Lino's latest arrest.

The source photographs include the current detainee and García Harfuch, followed by an official custody grid and an evidence display illustrating the May background case.
