Three arrested with guns and cocaine in Tecate
El Imparcial reports that state security and Navy personnel arrested three people in Tecate after finding two pistols, ammunition and about 20 grams of cocaine. One detainee, José Elpidio N., is described as a suspected criminal-group member with records tied to several alleged offenses.
Three men were arrested in Tecate’s El Descanso neighborhood after state security and Navy personnel allegedly found them carrying pistols, ammunition and cocaine, El Imparcial reports. The arrests took place on Neji Street after officers saw one of the men hand an object to another.
During a body search, authorities found a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol with a magazine holding six rounds. They also found a .45-caliber pistol with five rounds, three additional .40-caliber cartridges and a bag containing approximately 20 grams of cocaine, according to the report.
El Imparcial identified the detainees as José Elpidio “N,” 33, from Tijuana; José Hassel “N,” 18, from León, Guanajuato; and a 16-year-old minor. The three were placed at the disposal of the federal Attorney General’s Office in Tijuana.
The report says authorities describe José Elpidio N. as a suspected member of a criminal group and cite records related to alleged property damage, unlawful deprivation of liberty, vehicle theft, illicit dealings and retail drug offenses. It also lists a 2016 arrest warrant related to retail drug activity and previous prison admissions. Those records and the alleged affiliation are claims reported by El Imparcial; the article does not state that the allegations have resulted in convictions.
