What happened

Authorities arrested Lino Adame Sotelo, known as El Patrón, in an operation tied to the national anti-extortion strategy. Tribuna reports nine alleged group members have been arrested since May.

Reporting and context

Federal agents arrested Lino Adame Sotelo, known as El Patrón or El Señor, in Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, on November 3, according to Tribuna, citing Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch. Officials identified him as the leader of Los Linos, a group linked to extortion and killings in Morelos.

Tribuna reported that personnel from the federal Security and Citizen Protection Secretariat and the Attorney General’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Agency carried out the arrest using information from the National Intelligence Center. García Harfuch said it formed part of the national strategy against extortion.

The report places the group in six Morelos municipalities: Cuautla, Emiliano Zapata, Tlaltizapán, Yautepec, Jiutepec and Cuernavaca. It links the organization to extortion, homicide, vehicle theft and drug trafficking, and says nine alleged members have been arrested since May 2026, including Adame Sotelo.

For context, Tribuna described an earlier federal operation in Yautepec that resulted in eight arrests, including brothers Rodolfo N, known as Don Ramón, and Carlos N. A suspected attacker died and two federal security officers were wounded in a gunfight during that operation.

On May 22, a federal judge ordered those eight defendants to stand trial and remain in pretrial detention at Atlacholoaya prison over weapons, ammunition and drug offenses, the outlet reported. The seizure in that earlier operation included nine firearms, 394 cartridges and 543.9 grams of methamphetamine. Those quantities are separate from the November arrest.

García Harfuch said work against extortion networks continued in coordination with Morelos Governor Margarita González Saravia, and thanked State of Mexico Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez for support with the arrest.
