An active duty member of the U.S. Army was abducted in the border municipality of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, and his whereabouts have been unknown since last Monday.
The victim was identified as Oziel Collazo, an active duty member of the U.S. Army and resident of Florida, who was last seen on August 19.
It was learned that the soldier had come to Mexico to celebrate his 25th birthday with his family; when he was at the Mi Tienda business in the Paseo De Las Brisas subdivision, he was intercepted by armed men who abducted him.
Local sources attribute the crime to the “Grupo Escorpión” of the “Gulf Cartel”, which has previously kidnapped U.S. citizens.
