Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s wife, Emma Coronel, is seeking to have her probation end as soon as possible. In an interview with my colleague Ángel Hernández, her lawyer, Mariel Colón, said that the model lives far removed from crime and that she lost job opportunities after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges in 2021.
Emma Coronel, a model and influencer, wife of El Chapo Guzmán and mother of his daughters, wants to end her probation early. Through her lawyer, she requested that the remaining 17 months be waived so she can dedicate herself to her daughters and her work.
After pleading guilty to several drug trafficking-related charges in 2021, her lawyer assures that Coronel has already completed the most difficult part of her sentence: 3 years in prison, the payment of a $1.5 million fine, and maintaining exemplary behavior, dedicating herself almost exclusively to excelling in her profession as a model and influencer. However, she claims that due to her situation, she has lost job opportunities.
“Sometimes they don’t give her the permits, or sometimes when they do, the time for the job has already passed, right? So she has lost job opportunities because of that. Sometimes they call you from one day to the next, right? For an opportunity that arises, and so she has lost work because of that.”
Emma Coronel’s probation began on May 30, 2023, and she has completed 31 months of her sentence. Her dual citizenship prevented her deportation to Mexico. Mariel Colón affirms that her twin daughters’ good grades are a reflection of her reintegration and highlighted that she has started new businesses far removed from crime.
However, to leave the United States, she needs permission from the Court. In September 2024, she walked the runway at Milan Fashion Week for Californian designer April Black Diamond. Shortly before, she participated in the music video for the single “La Señora,” performed by her own lawyer in her honor. Currently, the Department of Justice doesn’t oppose advancing the end of her supervised release, but the office that manages it does.
She is very anxious to put this probation behind her. Every day she asks me if there’s been any news. Every day, she literally asks me to check my email because, well, it would give her the freedom to expand her business, to accept contracts that she can’t right now.
Judge Rodolfo Contreras will make the final decision, but the date is unknown. And nothing is set in stone. FBI reports place Coronel as an important figure in the drug world, as a messenger for El Chapo and one of the people who helped him escape from Altiplano prison in 2015. María says that even though she can’t visit her husband and will never see him free, Emma still loves him.
She’s not going to stop loving her husband or leave him because he’s serving this sentence. She has to live away from the crimes and illegal activities. Of course, she has to live away from the crimes and illegal activities, and that’s why they can’t talk, that’s why they can’t see each other. That’s why she can no longer visit him, but that doesn’t mean she’s left him, she’s just not allowed to.

The love professed by this plastic doll for her monster husband is a merely a lucrative lie.
This girl I just had looked as good if not better
Yeah, yeah, yeah. She has a Pancho or 2 or 3. She won’t go back to Mexico, because she will be killed. She’s a nobody now, and father time will wilt those plastic curves. She has to make as much money as she can now, because before long, she will be an old, broke hag.

Christ. This cumdumpster is so transparent it’s the same as staring through a wide open window on a breezy spring day. “True Love!…” Sure, Emma.
