Mazatlán, Sinaloa — A severed human head was found outside City Hall on Tuesday morning, October 27, bringing police, soldiers and marines to the municipal building in the city center, according to local reports.

The remains were found along Guillermo Nelson Street, between 21 de Marzo and General Ángel Flores. Security personnel cordoned off the area while investigators from the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office collected evidence. The remains were later taken to the forensic service for identification, Línea Directa reported.
The victim had not been identified in the initial reports.

Reports also described a message left alongside the head, although authorities had not publicly confirmed its contents. A transcription shared with Cartel Insider addresses someone named Renato and refers to an agreement in Cerritos.
The circulating text reads, translated into English:
“Renato, honor the agreement we have in Cerritos or face the consequences. Don’t say you weren’t warned.”

Mica’s Analysis
My money is on Los Cabreras being behind this act of intimidation. They have been fighting Los Chapitos for control of the port of Mazatlán.
Sources tell me the Cabreras got their beaks wet collecting cobro de piso—extortion payments—in Mazatlán, and that keeping the money flowing has become their top priority.
