Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel Boss Arrested In Dolores Hidalgo

Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel Boss Arrested In Dolores Hidalgo

During the early hours of Tuesday, October 1, Pedro ‘N’ alias ‘Don Pedro’, boss of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL) in Dolores Hidalgo, was arrested.

Elements of the Mexican Army and the Special Reaction and Intervention Force of the National Guard arrested the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel boss in the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo in Guanajuato during the early hours of Tuesday, October 1.

The alleged criminal is identified as Pedro “N”, alias “Don Pedro”. At the time of his capture, this subject was found to be carrying weapons for the exclusive use of the army, as well as rounds and magazines of different calibers.

Don Pedro is linked by the authorities to the crime of hydrocarbon theft, stolen from Mexican oil pipelines. This crime is the main livelihood of the criminal group.

Pedro “N”‘s main criminal activities included:

The theft and sale of hydrocarbons illegally extracted from Pemex pipelines, an activity known as “huachicol,” which represents the main source of financing for the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel for the acquisition of high-caliber weapons and tactical equipment.

Extortion of government authorities through the diversion of public resources. He also paid fees to authorities to operate freely under the protection of the criminal organization.

“Don Pedro” answered directly to Karem Lizbeth Yépez Ortiz, alias “La Señora,” sister of José Antonio “N,” known as “El Marro,” founder of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, who was arrested in August 2020.

After the capture of her brother, “La Señora” assumed leadership of the organization. Currently, the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel maintains an alliance with the Pacific Cartel to confront the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), in a dispute for control of the state of Guanajuato, which has generated a high rate of homicides in the region.

The security strategy designed by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection not only focuses on attacking the causes that generate crimes, but also on the capture of key targets within criminal structures.

Therefore, it is expected that during the first 100 days of the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum, various arrests will be made of individuals considered generators of violence, although not necessarily big bosses, but rather strategic figures for the territorial control of these organizations.
