At least eight dismembered corpses were found, on November 30, 2024, inside black bags, in a field in the municipality of Hueyapan de Ocampo, in the state of Veracruz.
The bodies were found in the ranch “Aparicio”, belonging to the congregation of Juan Diaz Covarrubias, located near the road that connects the community of Casa Blanca with the municipality of Alto Lucero.
The municipality is governed by the mayor Juan Gómez Martínez, a Morena militant, father of the former leader of the Veracruz Congress, Juan Javier Gómez Cazarín, current state delegate of the Federal Welfare Secretariat.
The bodies were dismembered and distributed inside black plastic bags, and they had been set on fire. At the same ranch, Municipal Police officers seized a pick-up truck and a white car.
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) informed that, through the Cosamaloapan Regional Prosecutor’s Office, it initiated an investigation folder for facts that could constitute a crime, derived from a police report, submitted to the state Public Security Secretariat (SSP).
“As a result of the first inquiries, the ranch called ‘Aparicio’, located in the Municipality of Hueyapan de Ocampo, has been secured.
