In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, a pivotal operation by the National Guard led to a fierce encounter with armed criminals, culminating in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of a substantial cache of military-grade weaponry, including rockets, rocket launchers, and grenades. This event, occurring near El Ranchito, represents a significant blow to criminal operations in the vicinity.
The incident began when National Guard personnel observed two individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior near a truck. The situation quickly escalated as the suspects, upon noticing law enforcement’s interest, attempted to escape, colliding with a National Guard vehicle. Their attempt to flee turned violent when they engaged the officers with gunfire, prompting a decisive response from the National Guard.
Despite the initial hostilities, the conflict ended quickly when the outnumbered assailants ceased firing, abandoned their arms, and surrendered. One suspect was injured in the leg during the skirmish and was promptly treated by paramedics at the scene.
The authorities’ findings from the operation were significant, including 10 rockets, two rocket launchers, grenades, two rifles, three pistols, 40 magazines, 837 rounds of ammunition, two tactical vests, and two bags of marijuana, all confiscated from the suspects’ vehicle. This haul underscores the persistent danger and challenge posed by armed groups in the area.
The apprehended suspects have been transferred to the Federal Public Ministry, where their legal proceedings are ongoing. This recent confrontation highlights the National Guard’s unwavering dedication to dismantling organized crime and safeguarding the people of Puerto Vallarta.
