Guanajuato rappers Julio y Cheko were both shot to death on the afternoon of Saturday, October 18, in the La Loma neighborhood, in the municipality of Valle de Santiago.
Local media presented the homicides with scarce details as to why they were actually executed. A trusted source for Cartel Insider confirmed that Julio and Cheko were involved in the illicit drug trade.
Their deaths were linked to the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL), who took issue with the rappers for buying drugs from an opposing cartel.
Days after Julio and Cheko were killed, the CSRL released a video montage online where the performers of urban music openly challenged them with threats and other actions.
Included within the broadcast is the horrific dismemberment of a young male who can’t escape the repetitive swings of a long machete coming towards him.
