Jesus Vicente Zambada Niebla, also known as El Vicentillo, the eldest son of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, the top leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, was captured at an airport in the United States while he was heading to another destination.
According to Zeta Weekly, El Vicentillo was caught on camera by a cell phone on Monday, January 29, when the son of the drug trafficker was at what appears to be a fast food place.
The media shared a photograph of this 48-year-old drug trafficker, in which El Vicentillo is seen getting up from a chair at the “U Street Pub” restaurant.
The son of El Mayo Zambada was wearing a dress with a black shirt and a watch with a strap of the same color, he was putting on a brown jacket.

The investigation by Semanario Zeta, which consulted federal security sources and conducted a facial analysis of the photograph, indicates that Zambada Niebla was at the B/C terminal of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, in Arlington County, Virginia.
The sources of Semanario Zeta indicated that the son of El Mayo Zambada traveled to Miami International Airport, Florida.
A comparative facial analysis was conducted with photographs widely spread through various national and international media. The study revealed a 97.7 percent match,”Zeta” refers in its publication titled “Vicentillo Zambada strolls in the US; with impunity in Mexico.”
Zambada Niebla, who is also the godson of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, is currently free but under the supervision of American authorities.
This photo adds to the one that was released on January 1st of the current year by journalist Luis Chaparro through his official website.
That portrait would have been taken in 2010, after the extradition of “El Vincentillo” to the United States, according to a source consulted by the journalist. It is believed that this photo would have been used as a reference for a self-portrait that would later be used for the cover of the book “El Traidor” by journalist Anabel Hernández.
Zambada Niebla was captured by members of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) early in the morning of March 18, 2009 in the Lomas del Pedegral neighborhood of Mexico City.

Federal authorities’ reports indicated that Vicentillo was taking over the control, logistics, and security of the Sinaloa Cartel. In February 2010, Zambada Niebla was extradited to the USA where he was detained in the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in Chicago, Illinois.
Despite this, the son of Zambada García reached a guilty plea agreement with the Northern District of Illinois Prosecutor’s Office and acknowledged his involvement in illicit activities linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.
In 2011, El Vicentillo began to give details about the operations of his father’s organization and his godfather El Chapo Guzmán, all with the intention of benefiting himself in his sentence, which ultimately was 15 years in prison, including the 10 years he spent arrested in Mexico.

The Zeta Weekly detailed that El Vincentillo was removed from the United States Treasury Department’s blacklist in April 2022, after being considered one of the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel.
Zamabada Niebla testified against El Chapo Guzmán during the so-called trial of the century, which took place in late 2019 and the first semester of 2020.
In July 2021, El Vicentillo was no longer found incarcerated in any of the United States prisons, according to a query by The Associated Press to the Bureau of Prisons (BOP).
