On January 13, 2026, authorities in Sonora captured Francisco Javier “N,” alias “El Bitachi,” a fugitive identified by state prosecutors as a generador de violencia in the Altar region. The arrest was carried out by the Sonora State Prosecutor’s Office (FGJES) through its Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC).
According to authorities, El Bitachi had active arrest warrants for enforced disappearance committed by private individuals and criminal association, tied to high-impact crimes in the municipality of Altar. Investigators link him to the January 2025 disappearance of a local man, a case for which other members of the same criminal cell have already been detained.
FGJES identifies El Bitachi as a remanent of the criminal group known as “Los Deltas,” an organization that operated in northern Sonora and functioned as an armed cell aligned with the Chapitos faction. Los Deltas was largely dismantled in 2025 following the killing of its leader, Eleazar Pulido Landeros, alias “Delta 10,” but El Bitachi remained at large until this operation.

Following his capture, El Bitachi was presented before a judge in an initial hearing, where the prosecutor formally filed charges and a judge ordered justified pretrial detention while the legal process continues.

Another hit for the chapitos? Do you still think the govt is favoring mayito flaco?
Hi JP,
It’s increasingly clear that the Mexican government is concentrating its pressure on the Chapitos.
Over the past two weeks, CJNG has also taken several hits. From the U.S. perspective, Isidro, the Chapitos, and CJNG remain the higher-priority targets.
