A confrontation between suspected criminals and authorities resulted in the seizure of an anti-aircraft rifle, six long arms, two pickup trucks and tactical equipment in the municipality of Bustamante, Nuevo Leon.
The attack took place between an organized crime group and members of the Fuerza Civil,
Mexican Army and the National Guard.
The State Government confirmed the confrontation and seizure in the southern area of the state, bordering the state of Coahuila.
“The operation also resulted in the seizure of tactical equipment, several magazines and rounds of different calibers.
Operation Muralla involved elements of the Nuevo Leon Civil Force, National Guard and Defense, with the support of the National Intelligence Center, the Attorney General’s Office, the State Attorney General’s Office and the municipal corporations in the area,” states the official text.
It was reported that the authorities were carrying out Operation Muralla when they were shot at by armed men traveling in a pick-up truck.
Upon repelling the aggression, the confrontation broke out, where it was not specified if there were people detained.
“Operation Muralla is a coordination mechanism focused on preventing criminal groups from accessing Nuevo León to criminal groups through intelligence actions and field interventions,” the statement explained.
