A Man Carrying Hidden Fentanyl In The Bed Of A Truck Was Arrested In Sonora.

A man identified as Héctor Ricardo “N” was arrested after authorities found several packages containing fentanyl in the bed of a tractor-trailer in Sonora.

On April 24th, state security entities in Hermosillo carried out a joint operation which resulted in the arrest of a man. During the operation, they seized a total of 13 kilograms of fentanyl, in both powder and tablet form. Additionally, a tractor truck and a semi-trailer were confiscated.

The authorities involved in the detention were agents of the Federal Ministerial Police, who acted in response to a citizen report. Héctor Ricardo “N” was arrested on Highway 36 North, heading towards Puerto Libertad, specifically at kilometer 49+800, near Bacoachi bridge.

The agents found the hidden opioid in a compartment hidden in the driver’s cabin, under the bed, inside a vehicle of the brand Peña Motors. The twelve packages of white powder were marked with the legend “55,” and behind the control panel, a bag with blue tablets was found.

After the arrest and seizure of the illegal substances, both the detained individual and the confiscated materials were taken to the Federal Public Ministry to conduct investigations.

“It was located in a hidden compartment, in the cabin under the bed of a Peña Motors truck, twelve packages with white powder with the label 55 and behind the control panel a bag containing blue tablets,” reads the report from the State Security Table of Sonora shared during the afternoon of Thursday, April 25th.

In the images shared by the authorities, you can see that the insured vehicle is a white tractor-trailer.

So far, it is not known if the confiscated drug is related to any organized crime group, as multiple criminal cells are operating in Sonora. In fact, on the same Thursday, Sonoran authorities reported the seizure of weapons in Sonoyta.

Security agents seized three kilograms of methamphetamine, exclusive weaponry of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), as well as tactical material. They also seized five vehicles, two of which had improvised armor, known as “monsters,” which are often used by criminal groups in confrontations with rivals or authorities.

About these trucks, it can be seen that both had the legends “Marina” and “Infantry” and two of the units have reports of theft in the United States.

While in news from last week, four people were arrested after an armed confrontation with National Guard members in the municipality of Caborca. It was on a dirt road that goes from the Ejido José María Pino Suárez to the Ejido Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez where the National Guards clashed with Arturo “N”, Kevin Alberto “N”, Martín “N” and Valentín “N”, who were caught with weapons exclusive to authorities.

Sonora is a relevant entity for criminal groups due to its proximity to the United States. On April 10th, various American institutions announced “the next phase” against criminal organizations linked to the trafficking of fentanyl.

Authorities seek to capture Sergio Valenzuela Valenzuela, a man known as El Gigio and who is accused of being the presumed plaza chief of the Sinaloa Cartel specifically this individual is allegedly linked to Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, one of the leaders of the Pacific Cartel.
