‘El Antuan,’ who for a long time served as the leader of ‘Los Pellejos,’ took charge of expelling the members of Tepito from the Insurgentes corridor, Zona Rosa, and Condesa, in order to take control of the drug trade in the most famous clubs in Mexico City.

This information comes from the testimony of members of ‘Los Pellejos’ who were arrested, and is part of numerous local and federal investigations,” narrates the author of the book “Narcos de México.”

The escalation of this rivalry intensified with the actions of the Hernandez Gomez brothers, who, in contrast to ‘El Antuan’s strategy, have ordered their followers to venture into these coveted territories.

Given their profitability and the constant flow of money they represented, it was for a long time the main objective of both bands, who fought for control of the area, causing a terrible war that claimed many human lives and others were reported as missing. More than 10 years have passed and nothing is known about them.

It should be noted that the confrontation between Los Pellejos and the Tepito groups is not an isolated phenomenon, but a manifestation of the continuous power struggles between rival gangs operating in the field of drugs and other illegal activities in the capital city.

The dispute for Insurgentes, Zona Rosa, and Condesa is part of a series of confrontations that have affected the security and coexistence in these areas, something that made evident the presence of criminal organizations with heavy weaponry and not just gangs as the Mexican authorities claimed.

During the 2000s, the Beltrán Leyva Cartel consolidated itself as one of the criminal organizations with influence in Mexico City, during a period in which they maintained an alliance with the Sinaloa Cartel.

Through lieutenants and alliances with local criminal cells, it was that the natives of Badiraguato had a presence in Mexico City, being ‘Los Pellejos’, headed by Germán Magaña, alias ‘El Malandrín’, and previously known as ‘Los Malandros’, who operated for them as their protected ones until their alliance with the Pacific Cartel ended and their power began to decline in the area.

The Romero Rubio neighborhood is located in the eastern part of Mexico City, not far from the airport, and about four kilometers from the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl, in the State of Mexico. This territory was the stronghold of the Pellejos, formerly known as the Malandros, due to their leader German Magaña, who was nicknamed El Malandrín. This man had two brothers, Manuel and César, who dominated the drug trade in the Zona Rosa in 2001, and managed to extend their influence along Insurgentes Avenue, which crosses Mexico City from north to south.
