Narco Warehouse Bust: Suspected Drugs From The CJNG Were Seized

On the night of March 13, elements of the Army and the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) carried out a raid at a property on Pípila street in the Guadalupe del Moral neighborhood, in the Iztapalapa borough.

By land and air, the security forces guarded the area, as they had managed to find a warehouse that housed approximately 100 kilograms of cocaine from Chiapas.

One by one, the soldiers removed the packages from the residence that were wrapped with cinnamon tape and labeled with the initials of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The property looked like a discreet building, with a coffee-colored steel entrance and a white painted facade. However, in September 2023, it was labeled as a point of interest on the Google Maps platform under the name ‘Casa Serena’.

In this way, some photographs were registered on the site that show the interior of the narcobodega apparently used as a temporary storage point for organized crime.

The images show that, when entering, there’s a spacious and clear courtyard with access to a bedroom and some stairs that lead to the rest of the property.

In what appears to be the first floor, the place is equipped with all the amenities that a home could offer: a small dining room, a full bathroom, a kitchen, and a bedroom.

Some characteristics of this property suggest that it could have been used as a temporary accommodation point, although this has not been confirmed by the authorities.

It should be noted that in the report on the operation, the Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC CDMX) revealed that the criminal cell that guarded this shipment used to occupy buildings in CDMX as temporary warehouses to evade authorities.

And although the corporation did not disclose any arrests resulting from the raid, the labels found on the packages point towards it being a shipment possibly owned by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

This group maintains a violent dispute with the Sinaloa Cartel and the recently emerged Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel (CCyG) in Chiapas.

Documents from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) revealed that the leader of the CJNG in said state is said to be a man identified as Juan Manuel Valdovinos Mendoza, also known as ‘El Señor de los Caballos’ (The Lord of the Horses), a former member of the CDS who switched sides after he was not allowed to take over the leadership of the group.

This individual would have established an alliance with Eugenio Darío Molina López, the maximum leader of Los Huistas, a criminal organization from Guatemala that the cartel of the four letters intended to take territory from the CDS on the border.
