Nearly two weeks after the murder of Alfredo Chávez González, who served as the secretary of the City Council of Villa de Álvarez, in Colima, the state prosecutor’s office managed to arrest one of the suspects, identified as a member of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
It was on the morning of Tuesday, February 20th, when an arrest order was executed against Juan Olaf “N”, due to his alleged involvement in the murder of Chávez González. Members of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) were involved in these actions.
Based on the research and evidence gathered, the Attorney General’s Office of Colima identified Juan Olaf, aka ‘El T15’ or ‘Dexter’, as the “material author” of the crime.
Intelligence reports indicate that this individual was a member of a criminal cell called “Tropa de Alto Impacto” (TAI), “High Impact Troop” belonging to the CJNG, which carries out its operations in the state governed by Indira Vizcaíno.

After his arrest, ‘Dexter’ was placed at the judge’s disposal while he awaited his initial arraignment hearing, in which it will be sought for him to be linked to the legal process. So far, the state Attorney General’s Office has not reported on the possible causes of the murder.
On the morning of February 9th, it was reported that the secretary of the City Council of Villa de Álvarez, Alfredo Chávez, was murdered in the Real de Caná neighborhood of said municipality.
On that occasion, it was reported that the secretary was exercising in a garden in the town when he was attacked with a firearm. During the attack, Chávez was shot in the head, which caused him to lose his life.
His murder was confirmed by the municipal president, Esther Gutiérrez Andrade, who regretted what happened through social media. “To his family and friends, we reiterate our solidarity in the face of the pain caused by this loss,” she expressed.

The governor of Colima, Indira Vizcaíno Silva, also spoke out and demanded that the state prosecutor’s office initiate a “thorough and expeditious investigation into the events” to bring those responsible to justice.
Alejandro Moreno, national leader of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), also joined these demands, condemning the murder of Alfredo Chávez through his Facebook account.
“It’s enough of this climate of violence and insecurity, the country deserves peace, Mexicans cannot live at the mercy of crime,” the PRI member stated.
José Alfredo Chávez González completed his higher studies at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Applied Public Management.
From October 16, 2012, to October 15, 2015, he served as Secretary of the City Council of Villa de Álvarez. Subsequently, he acted as Administrative Director of Health Services for the state of Colima.
Between March 2016 and February 2018, he held the position of General Administrative Coordinator of the Executive Secretariat of the State Public Security System, according to reports from the Government of Colima.
The authorities did not disclose whether Chavez had received threats from the CJNG or any other criminal organization.
