Five Bodies Bound And With Signs Of Violence Located In Ojuelos, Jalisco.

Semidressed and with signs of violence, the bodies of five people were found on a highway located in the municipality of Ojuelos, in the state of Jalisco, which prompted a mobilization by state and federal authorities.

The facts were confirmed by the state attorney’s office, which announced in a statement that the bodies corresponded to four men and one woman, whose identities were kept confidential because the investigations are still ongoing.

This finding occurred on Wednesday afternoon, around 4:00 PM, when a report was received about a group of “unconscious people” on the Lagos de Moreno – Villa de Arriaga highway at kilometer 042+700.

Before this, elements of the National Guard (GN) were transferred to the site in question and corroborated the presence of the five bodies that had blood stains. This was how they requested the support of medical services, which determined that they no longer had vital signs.

These events led to the prosecutor ordering the security of the area while waiting for the arrival of the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), which was in charge of transporting the bodies to their facilities to perform the corresponding autopsy by law.

As of the publication of this note, the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office did not have knowledge of the identities of the people who were found dead; their ages, places of origin, and whether they had a missing person report are unknown.

Meanwhile, it will be the Special Regional Prosecutor’s Office for District III – based in Lagos de Moreno – that will be in charge of carrying out the corresponding investigations to determine the causes of death of the four men and the woman.

During the 14th of February (day on which this finding was reported) 11 homicides were recorded in the state governed by Enrique Alfaro, being the entity with the highest number of victims for this crime at a national level, according to figures from the National Security Commission.

Baja California, the State of Mexico, Guanajuato, and Guerrero were the other states with the highest number of homicides, with 8, 7, 6, and 6 cases respectively.

Throughout 2023, Jalisco recorded a total of 2,486 homicides (1,141 intentional and 1,045 negligent), according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).

The months with the highest concentrations of homicides were January, May, and March, with 247, 242, and 222 cases, respectively.
