The General Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) reported on February 14 that it executed arrest warrants against municipal police officers from Amanalco who were allegedly members of La Familia Michoacana.
The state Public Ministry specified in a brief statement that the municipal operational actions were to comply with arrest warrants for high-impact crimes against various suspects, including public servants in security.
These detentions were carried out with the support of elements from the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA), the Federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the National Anti-Kidnapping Commission (CONASE), the National Guard (GN), and the Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico (SSEM).
While the ministerial authority has not specified the details of the arrests, such as the number of people captured, it was reported that the Deputy Director of the Municipal Police of Amanalco and three other officers from that municipality were among those detained.

Sources consulted by the Edomex (State of Mexico) Prosecutors’ Office said that these individuals would be linked to the Michoacan Family, so it is expected that in the next few hours, the Public Ministry will detail the crimes for which they were arrested.
According to federal authorities, the leaders of the Michoacana Family are identified as the brothers José Alfredo Olascoaga Hurtado, also known as El Fresa; and Johnny Olascoaga Hurtado, El Pez.
However, the criminal structure also consists of plaza bosses of the Michoacan Family who were also involved in extortion, murders, and drug trafficking, among other illicit activities.

According to the confidential report revealed by the user Libro Negro, the Michoacana Family has approximately 16 people within its structure distributed in the municipalities of Toluca, Metepec, Zinacantepec, Valle de Bravo, Temascaltepec, Sultepec, Tejupilco, Ixtapan de la Sal, Tenango, Almoloya de Alquisiras, Villa Victoria, Tlatlaya, Luvianos, Tenancingo, Amatepec and Valle de Toluca.
On the other hand, authorities in the United States point to the Michoacan Family as trafficking rainbow fentanyl, which, according to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), appears in the form of pills/powder that come in a variety of bright colors, shapes, and sizes.
The New Michoacana Family operates in approximately 35 Mexican municipalities in the states of Michoacán, Guerrero, Morelos, and State of Mexico,” says a November 2022 report from the Department of Treasury where it alerts that this criminal structure is spreading to other regions of the country.
