In Queretaro, Jesus “N”, also known as Brakilla and/or Marlboro, was arrested. He is identified as a suspected financial operator for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Following this arrest, carried out by members of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), Governor Mauricio Kuri stated that this man did not live in the state that he governs.
The capture of Brakilla was reported during Sunday, February 11 by local media, who recorded the statements of Mauricio Kuri, who detailed that the operation that led to the arrest “was done 100% by the Secretariat of National Defense and the federal government.”
The arrest of Jesús “N” was carried out in the municipality of El Marqués, and the governor of Querétaro stated that security forces from the state did not participate in the operation. He also added:
In the particular case of this person [the information that is known] is that he/she does not live here, and was just passing by,” as reported by El Universal de Querétaro, which highlighted that the arrest occurred on February 5th of this year.
“The president declared that there is freedom of transit, anyone can come as long as they do not commit any crime.”
In addition, according to information from the Mexican Army, reported by the aforementioned media, the detained man could be the link between the so-called “four letter cartel” and the Gulf Cartel, in addition, during the arrest the security agents did not have to fire any shots.
The journalist Miyazaqui Blanco stated that Jesus “N” did not have bodyguards. Additionally, unconfirmed reports indicate that the recently arrested man is wanted by authorities in the United States.
It should be noted that, despite the Governor of Querétaro stating that the operation that led to the capture of Brakilla was carried out by the Mexican Army, as of 9:50 pm on Sunday, February 11, no official statement from the military organization had been released regarding the arrest.
According to military documents from the Sedena, leaked by the group known as Guacamaya, the presence of at least two criminal organizations has been reported in Querétaro: the CJNG, led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “El Mencho”; and the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, which is involved in fuel theft and is in conflict with the “four letter” cartel.
Similarly, the Open Data Projection Platform stated that, at least until 2020, the aforementioned CJNG and Arellano Félix were operating in Guanajuato.
On more than one occasion, activities that would indicate the presence of the criminal group led by El Mencho have been reported in Queretaro, as in November 2022, banners referencing the criminal group appeared in the communities of La Lira and La Venta. Some of the messages referred to the “Commander Castro”.
While in May 2023, a group of armed men appeared in a recording announcing the arrival of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel to Queretaro.
“This statement goes hand in hand, we are now in the entire state. We are going after scum, transportation, grasshoppers [informal term for corrupt politicians], huachicoleros [people involved in the illegal fuel trade], extortionists, and you municipal and state governments. Stop extorting people and supporting all these scum. We know where you live and stop supporting all those scum. Only followers of the Lord of the Roosters [nickname for Oseguera Cervantes], sincerely Commander Castro, pure CJNG.” This was expressed in a video circulated on social media.
