In mid-2002, when ‘La Barbie’ met his then-future wife Priscila Montemayor, he was a person with an athletic body and always used to dress formally, taking care of himself as a metrosexual, using creams for his face and using a hyperbaric camera.
The striking thing about all of this is that he disguised his criminal activities by posing as an engineer named ‘Mr. Rogelio’, as there are not many details revealed about his identity during those years and there were not many photos showing his appearance.
In those years, when he met Priscila, he dressed like a yuppie and took care of himself like a metrosexual. He hired masseuses, bought expensive creams, used a hyperbaric camera, injected himself with a concoction of placenta that gave youth and vitality to his face. He bought suits, dress shirts, shoes and watches from the best brands. Those who knew him described him as a very handsome man and at the same time a narcissist,” reads in the book ‘Emma and the Other Narco Women’ by Anabel Hernandez.

According to journalist Anabel Hernández, Valdez Villarreal spoke with a northern accent, so he claimed to be from Tamaulipas, the state that sheltered him after his exit from the United States, due to legal issues.
“He spoke with a northern accent and in everyday life he pretended to be an engineer or ‘Mr. Rogelio’. However, neither his good appearance nor his false professional title could erase his vulgarity. He was rude and sarcastic with those closest to him, even displaying his flatulence as if having a weapon, money, and power obligated others to tolerate his bad smells”, reads Anabel Hernández’s work.
Despite her striking appearance, ‘La Barbie’ remained a vulgar person who enjoyed showing off the smell of her flatulence, believing that her power gave her the opportunity to force everyone to tolerate her bad odors.

When passing himself off as ‘El Señor Rogelio’, ‘La Barbie’ used to visit a luxurious jewelry store in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City, where he was considered a VIP client. However, nobody was aware of his criminal activity.
He was received as Mr. Rogelio, attended to by the manager, a man between 40 and 45 years old, obviously dressed in a suit, well-educated, and well-shaven. There were two employees who brought him jewelry and a jeweler to tell him the quality of the jewelry. “La Barbie” bought jewelry for his whole family, for Arleth Terán and the girls,” reads the book by the Mexican journalist.
