Jorge Enrique Bonilla Urias, known as ‘El Borrego’, was a significant drug trafficker in the 80s and 90s. Despite operating independently, he had the support of powerful bosses in Sinaloa, including the Quintero Payan brothers and even Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán himself.
‘El Borrego’ was born in the community of Tierra Blanca and acquired this nickname due to his hair type, which he wore in an afro style. His friends gave him this pseudonym as a nickname.
“I was very poor over there in “land Blanca,” and I did errands to eat until one day they loaned him drugs, and little by little he began to sell. He had courage and intelligence and became rich in no time,” begins the song by Los Tucanes de Tijuana.
In this fragment of the song, the influence within the world of drug trafficking is explained, as he had essential contacts that allowed him to bring in shipments successfully.

The great bosses respected him because he was a fine and upright person. Whether by kilos or tons, he was paid fairly and on time. Anyone who acted wrongly would rot their soul, he always said with great determination. This continues the theme of Los Tucanes de Tijuana.
In the mid-80s, he was arrested by Mexican authorities, who had him locked up for a few months until he was acquitted after paying some bribes.
Everything was going wonderfully, but in Tijuana, they stopped him, imprisoned him for a few months, and he came out acquitted, as they did, the lawyers fix everything, miracles are performed for money”, continued the topic.
In his final years of life, after serving a sentence in the United States, he became a low-profile drug trafficker until he began to retire gradually. Eventually, he was killed by men disguised as police officers.

He moved to Culiacan because the DEA was after him, he became a professional cockfighter and bet a lot in the arenas, one day he was ambushed at his home by fake cops who kill for pay,” it continues.
Ultimately, he says goodbye to some of the most important bosses in Sinaloa at the time, such as ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán and Emilio Quintero Payán, among others.
According to journalist Juan Amador, ‘El Borrego’ was murdered while on his way home after enjoying a soccer match in 1995.
“Goodbye friend Chapo Guzmán, there I go compadre Emilio Quintero, they killed me, I don’t know why or who did it, the one who does wrong, rots their soul, that’s what compa Borrego said,” concluded the subject.
