Ministerial agents have achieved the capture of Guillermo Alexis Ochoa Cordero, also known as El Memo, alleged criminal leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) that operates in the area of Tapachula, Chiapas.
According to the National Detention Registry (RND), El Memo is in transfer status after being arrested last Tuesday, January 23rd.
The arrest record for Ochoa Cordero, which does not have details of his arrest, indicates that this criminal boss is of robust build, approximately 1.75 meters tall and at the time of his arrest, El Memo was wearing blue jeans, a gray and black t-shirt, and white sneakers.

Infobae Mexico was able to confirm with the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Chiapas, of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), that El Memo was captured by members of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO).
Meanwhile, local media outlets such as El Heraldo de Chiapas specified that the capture operation of Guillermo Alexis was coordinated by FEMDO after receiving a report for kidnapping, which mobilized the special team from Mexico City.
According to the media, El Memo was linked to organized crime in the Sierra de Chiapas and was arrested along with his spouse and five other individuals who made up his security.

It was reported that during the arrest of this criminal leader, various communication devices were seized.
The Tapachula International Airport was the starting point for their transfer to the capital, where they will face charges for federal crimes.
Guillermo Alexis’ criminal record includes a prior arrest in August 2023, after an armed confrontation with the army, although he was later released. In 2021, he was arrested for a double homicide but was acquitted by a criminal judge.
According to local media, federal operations in Tapachula had been intensified with the goal of capturing him.
