When reports began to emerge about an armed confrontation that occurred in Sonora, some versions indicated that one of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s sons may have been present in the state. More specifically, it was said to be Ivan Archivaldo, identified as the alleged leader of Los Chapitos, a significant faction within the Sinaloa Cartel.
Although El Chapito, also known as the son of Guzmán Loera, was not involved in the mentioned actions, what was confirmed was the capture of Carlos Humberto “N”, identified by authorities as the son of Jesús Humberto Limón López, alias El Chubeto, the latter being a suspected criminal leader linked to the criminal cell Los Cazadores.
It was the head of the Sonora Prosecutor’s Office, Gustavo Rómulo Salas, who explained that the information indicating that one of El Chapo’s sons was involved in the events that occurred over the weekend came from Mexico City.

“Concurrently with this group of armed individuals that was located, the detention of another person was made, [Not Iván Archivaldo], and falsely attempted to be spread on some social media platforms, which we have already investigated and found to be a digital platform operating from Mexico City, which we emphatically and totally deny.”
The above was declared by Rómulo Salas in a meeting with media during Monday, January 22. However, this person did not provide details about the platform that began spreading false information.
“We have no information, not even circumstantial, that leads us to believe that any of Mr. Guzmán’s children were on board the trucks,” Gustavo Rómulo emphasized.

Apparently, the capture of Carlos Humberto “N” was what caused the mobilization of an armed group, which resulted in the death of 12 people. The authorities’ hypothesis is that those involved in the violent acts may have tried to rescue Jesús Humberto Limón’s son, El Chubeto, who was arrested in June 2021.
This individual was accused of being a criminal leader, specifically of the cell known as “Los Cazadores”, a criminal cell linked to “Los Chapitos”, at least until 2022 and who would answer to the sons of Guzman Loera.
On the other hand, the Sonora Prosecutor’s Office also reported on January 22 that Carlos Humberto “N” has been charged with drug trafficking and has been placed under preventive custody.

The State of Sonora’s General Prosecutor’s Office (FGJES) filed charges for drug dealing against Carlos Humberto “N”, who was placed under the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention by a decision of the Control Judge. After being captured on the afternoon of last Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the west of Hermosillo, the individual was handed over to the corresponding authority, according to authorities.
The next January 24th, the hearing will be resumed where the legal situation of the man who was attempted to be rescued by several men will be decided.
While in other incidents, a few days ago in Sonora, Edwin C., also known as “El Moreno,” was killed. He was unofficially identified as the presumed leader of the group Los Cazadores.
