This Was The Time When Alejandrina Giselle, Daughter Of ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, Was Arrested By US Authorities.

Known for leading the Sinaloa Cartel in its time of greatest height, Joaquín Guzmán Loera has stood out among the dozens of recognized drug traffickers in Mexico for one reason: he is the only one who managed to escape from two maximum security prisons and star in three Hollywood-worthy captures. However, ‘El Chapo’ is not the only member of his family who has faced justice. The list is long: from one of his brothers to his wife and several of his children, including the eldest of the women he fathered.

Of the 10 known children of the former drug trafficker, only two have been in the cold and damp cells of a prison. They are Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, identified by the United States as the leader of ‘Los Chapitos’, and Ovidio Guzmán López, whose first capture -failed- unleashed a wave of violence never before seen in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

However, few know or remember that Alejandrina Giselle Guzmán Salazar, the first daughter of ‘El Chapo’, also had to face authorities over a decade ago when she attempted to enter US territory with false papers.

But, how did the events happen?

The arrest of Alejandrina Giselle, fruit of ‘El Chapo’s’ first marriage, occurred on October 12, 2012, when the 31-year-old woman attempted to cross the border between Tijuana and San Diego County, California, through the San Ysidro border crossing.

After a routine inspection by US agents, the customs department identified that the documents Alejandrina possessed belonged to another person, a fact that was confirmed through fingerprinting. The young woman was immediately detained and did not hesitate to mention her relation to the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, but it was of little use.

According to journalistic reports from that year, Alejandrina Giselle was transferred to Los Angeles, where she requested the presence of lawyer Jan Ronis, a recognized litigator who had represented other drug traffickers such as Benjamin Arellano Felix, from the Tijuana Cartel.

In her first hearing, authorities accused Guzmán Loera’s daughter of fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents. The initial findings indicated that Alejandrina intended to enter the USA to give birth, as she was seven months pregnant.

This version gained strength because one year ago Emma Coronel Aispuro, the third and current wife of the powerful drug trafficker, traveled to Los Angeles, California, to give birth to their twins, Emaly and María Joaquina.

Although the authorities were aware of this movement, they could not intervene, as Coronel has American nationality, which gives him the right to enter the country freely.

Faced with various evidence against her, Alejandrina Giselle pleaded guilty to possessing a fake visa and was released in December 2012, after reaching an agreement with the US justice system.

Alejandrina Giselle is the only woman in the marriage between Guzmán Loera and María Alejandrina Salazar Hernández, who gave birth to four children in total. According to journalist Anabel Hernández, she was born in 1982, just one year after ‘El Chapito’. Her other two brothers are César and Jesús Alfredo; the first decided not to be part of the Sinaloa Cartel, while the second is considered the second in command of ‘Los Chapitos’.

Like her siblings, Alejandrina Giselle spent part of her life in Jalisco, which is why she decided to study medicine at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara (UAG), from which she graduated in 2005.

It is also known that, after completing her university studies, she became the majority partner of Specialized Vaccination Services, Cegival, S.A. de C.V., a company that was founded in 2007 in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. However, it closed its doors in 2012.

She was the owner of a company dedicated to the sale and export of stationery items and, in 2019, she launched a clothing line featuring her father’s image and nickname.

In 2020, it was revealed that she got married to Édgar Cazares, nephew of Blanca Margarita Cázares, better known as ‘The Empress’.
