Confrontation In Hermosillo, Sonora Was Due To The Arrest Of ‘El Chubeto’s Son, Of Los Chapitos.

Through a statement, the Sonora General Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the shooting registered on the Highway 100 Hermosillo-Bahía de Kino was due to the capture of an alleged criminal linked to Los Cazadores, a cell that previously worked with Los Chapitos.

This is about Carlos Humberto “N”, identified by authorities as the son of Jesús Humberto Limón López, alias ‘El Chubeto’ or ‘El Cazador’, former leader of this group who was arrested in June 2021.

According to the official narrative, Carlos Humberto “N” was arrested on Camino del Seri street in the Las Minitas neighborhood by municipal police officers. At the time of his capture, he identified himself as Isaías Valentín “N”, also known as ‘Cardinal’ or ‘Comanche’, but the officers confirmed his true identity after an initial inspection.

Upon realizing that this individual had been arrested, a group of hitmen tried to free him and fired shots at the law enforcement agents.

“At the moment the aggression occurred, the red code was activated, with the intervention of public law enforcement forces from all three levels of government. They proceeded to pursue the group of vehicles,” the Prosecution Office detailed.

It was at that moment that the exchange of bullets broke out between the gunmen – possibly members of Los Cazadores – and the law enforcement forces.

As a result of the confrontation, the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that 12 attackers were neutralized, while seven managed to escape, some with injuries resulting from the confrontation.

On the other hand, it was announced that two members of the Ministerial Agency of Criminal Investigation were injured, so they were transferred to a hospital. The latest update indicates that they are out of danger.

In this same sense, an important arsenal was secured including 21 assault rifles of different calibers, among which there were Barrett, Scar, AR-15 and AK-47 models. Likewise, they found a handgun, rifle magazines, box magazines, tactical vests, helmets, and camouflage clothing.

Similarly, six high-end and recent model trucks used during the combat were made available to the corresponding authorities.

At the time of this publication, the Public Prosecutor’s Office and security personnel from all three levels of government are carrying out an intense operation in the rural West area of Hermosillo to locate and capture the seven attackers who managed to escape.

Los Cazadores is a criminal cell that operated as a branch of Los Chapitos in Sonora, but in November 2023 it was revealed that they would have started to operate independently.

The attack that aimed to free ‘El Chubeto’s’ son could be an indicator of the level of relevance that Carlos Humberto “N” had within the criminal structure.
