After several days of being in prison, Oscar Federico Soberanes Ramiro, also known as “el Gorila,” originally from Culiacan, Sinaloa – was formally charged with the crimes of possession of weapons exclusive to the Army but was later released thanks to a lawsuit filed by his lawyers.
El Gorila was found in possession of a large number of firearms and has no ties to the city but was granted freedom by a federal judge. However, as a condition of release, he must sign his precautionary measure every 15 days, according to reports from the State Force of Citizen Security (FESC) and the Army.

Not much information has been given about the release of the person captured during an operation in the port of San Felipe on June 10th. The operation also led to the arrest of a suspected criminal cell linked with Chapiza, a Sinaloa Cartel faction headed by brothers Iván Archivaldo and Alfredo Guzmán Salazar.
State police and federal authorities captured the individuals and transported them to the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) facilities, where they were processed. However, they were released a few days later despite being initially granted the precautionary measure of preventive detention.

The Gorilla is considered one of the leaders in the Chapiza region after replacing his two predecessors, Samuel Ibarra Peralta, known as the Pia, and Aurelio Ibarra Ramiro, alias Commander Aurelio.
It is presumed that their intervention in San Felipe was to protect one of the region’s few control sites of La Chapiza.
