Security agents detected surveillance equipment allegedly used by members of organized crime in the municipality of Encarnación de Díaz, Jalisco.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that material linked to criminal groups has been seized in said entity, and there are reports about the interest of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the area.
According to reports, the securing of the material was carried out by members of the State Security Secretariat (SS).
The events were shared on Thursday, April 4th, when the officials confiscated a surveillance camera network that apparently had the goal of carrying out surveillance of criminal groups.
Local media reported that the seizure took place at a farm located on kilometer 1 between Encarnación de Díaz and San Sebastián del Álamo, in the Arroyo de los Frascos neighborhood.
A person who lives in the building explained to the authorities that four months ago, armed individuals came to the site and forced him and other people who live on the premises to allow the installation of materials. He also stated that he did not notify or file a report with the authorities out of fear of reprisals.
Based on the above, the antenna and a pair of surveillance cameras were secured by the agents, in addition, a signal repeater was found on the roof of the property.
In images shared on social media, part of the work of security agents can be seen dismantling the found objects.
In October 2023, authorities located and secured drug tunnels allegedly used by the Sinaloa Cartel in Teocaltiche. The underground passageways, which were discovered under various properties, would be connected to monitoring and surveillance centers.
Also, in Encarnación de Díaz, on October 21, security agents found a clandestine surveillance center that was operating in real time.
Just one day after, authorities reported the seizure of more surveillance material linked to criminal groups, resulting in a total of 10 surveillance centers being dismantled in less than two days.
In a document from the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), the different CJNG armed groups that operate in Jalisco can be seen. Specifically, in the region of Los Altos, the so-called “cartel of the four letters” operates with a cell called the Immediate Reaction Criminal Elite Group.
Similarly, the Los Altos de Jalisco region is one where the Sinaloa Cartel has sought to penetrate.
Military reports indicate that brothers Mario and Ramón are individuals linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. It should be noted that both are sons of a man known as Don Mario, who in life was a close associate of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.
The mentioned brothers formed a criminal cell identified as The Heirs, which would be dedicated to the distribution of illicit substances in the north of Jalisco, as can be read in leaked files from the Sedena.
On the other hand, in January 2024 there was an armed confrontation between antagonistic criminal groups that, according to unofficial reports, was between the CJNG and the Sinaloa Cartel.
Both the CJNG and the Sinaloa Cartel are the criminal organizations with the largest presence in Mexico, and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has indicated that these criminal groups also operate internationally.
