Former Member Of The Sinaloa Cartel Reveals How They Operated In Chicago

A man who was part of the Sinaloa Cartel and is now part of law enforcement in the United States was interviewed for an episode of Congressman Andy Biggs’ podcast. During the conversation, Margarito Flores, a crucial witness in the trial against Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, also spoke about his activities in Chicago.

The material was published on February 7th, and the talk lasted under half an hour. Topics related to drug trafficking activities in US territory were discussed. It is worth noting that Margarito Flores has a twin brother named Pedro. Margarito’s family members are relevant in understanding how he carried out his activities.

During the podcast, the former member of the criminal group appeared with a blurred face due to security issues and was questioned about the operation of the criminal organization in the United States. After this, Margarito reveals that he was born into a family of drug traffickers.

According to Flores, he was raised from a young age “in the world of drugs where I learned every part of drug trafficking, from cultivation to importation, smuggling, every aspect, from seven years old until the age of 13.”

Margarito says that he was involved in the trafficking of marijuana along with his father. Still, when the latter was accused and fled to Mexico, the twins stayed in the United States and were cared for by their older brother. However, this relative was already known as a boss in Chicago.

The interviewee detailed that, along with his twin brother, he helped his older brother and devoted himself to distribution activities and helping to divide the profits from drug sales. Flores pointed out that, at some point, his father had connections with the Sinaloa and Juarez cartels.

The former member of the Cartel commented that he has several brothers and that one of them even died from an overdose. One of his brothers was a trafficker, and when he went to prison, the twins took over the activities. Margarito said that one time, a drug supplier from the Sinaloa Cartel asked him if they would help distribute the narcotics.

When the twins were around 18, they sold 300 to 400 kilograms of cocaine monthly. This was done without touching Mexican soil, as they connected with the Pacific Cartel. However, up until 2001, it was the Gulf Cartel that supplied them with the drugs.

Furthermore, the brothers began to diversify the points to which their drugs would reach, not only limiting themselves to Chicago but also reaching neighboring areas. “We probably became the most important drug traffickers in Chicago at that time,” Flores pointed out.

It is worth noting that in February 2013, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Chicago Crime Commission identified El Chapo Guzmán as their public enemy number 1 due to his role as the primary drug supplier to this part of the US. In addition, there are also reports of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada’s capability to transport drugs from Mexico to Chicago through trains.
