Carlos Alberto Páez Pereda, known as “Carlitos” or “El Rugrats,” is now in Durango working with the Cabreras after a falling-out with Ismael Zambada Sicairos, alias “Mayito Flaco,” according to a contact who spoke with Cartel Insider.
Cartel Insider has received no confirmation of this account from U.S. or Mexican officials.
My contact says Mayito Flaco stole from Carlitos, wanted him dead, and had him kidnapped and held for roughly a month before the Cabreras intervened. Earlier information shared with me named Alejandro Cabrera Sarabia, the leader of the Cabreras, as the man who stepped in to save him.
According to the background shared with Cartel Insider, Carlitos previously worked for the Chapitos before joining Mayito Flaco.
I have not been given a date for the alleged kidnapping or the move to Durango, or told whether any of Carlitos’ people followed him.

Alejandro’s involvement is what interests me.
If the Cabreras and Mayito Flaco are still allies, why did Alejandro step in for someone Mayito Flaco allegedly wanted killed?
The account gives Carlitos a reason to leave. It does not explain why Alejandro got involved, or what Mayito Flaco knew about the intervention.
Alejandro may have thrown Carlitos a lifeline. But that lifeline could come with an expiration date—and leave Carlitos with little leverage over what happens next.
