Implementing Technologies In The Tijuana Transportation System Could Help Contribute To Its Reorganization.

Rodrigo Ramirez Reyes, technical secretary of the Infrastructure Table of the coalition “Fuerza y Corazón por México”, considered that the implementation of technologies is necessary for the reorganization of public transportation in the city of Tijuana.

Given the relevance of the city to the rest of the country, being one of the most important border capitals and representing the fifth place in the national GDP as the most populated city in Mexico with 3.8 million inhabitants, it was stated that it is important to treat it as a metropolis and not with the “criteria of the 70s”.

“There is no reason for it to be dissociated from solutions that have been successful at a national level, that is, the case of metrobuses in the State of Mexico is an extremely interesting one, or in León, in Guadalajara, that is to say, there are many metropolises that share this problem, and have been able to find solutions,” he stated.

He explained that tools such as artificial intelligence currently allow for the generation of algorithms, such as predictive schemes, to improve transport efficiency. This includes avoiding situations such as empty trucks or those that exceed their capacity, by synchronizing with traffic lights and road safety through technology.

However, given the complexity of the city’s topography, which has highlighted its deficiency due to recent weather conditions, it is necessary to implement specific studies in order to implement the design that Tijuana requires, where not only technological capabilities are involved, but also its climate and subsoil.

“Our country must make progress in the energy issue, towards clean energy and public transportation cannot be far behind,” he added.

Regarding the energy condition of Rosanety Barrios country, energy regulation policy advisor at the Energy Committee, highlighted three elements that energy used in the country should fulfill: sufficient, clean, and accessible to everyone.

“Mexico is a country with an extraordinary dependence on fossil fuels. Currently, more than 80% of our entire energy matrix depends on fossil fuels,” commented.
