What happened
Punto Norte reports that armed Tahoe occupants shot back at an attacker inside a Zona Centro barbershop; two wounded men were found separately and the SUV was abandoned near San Ysidro.
Reporting and context
A gunman was killed and two other men were wounded in a shooting at a downtown Tijuana barbershop on November 4, according to Punto Norte’s account of preliminary information.
The attacker entered Dunz Barber Shop on Calle Ocho, near Avenida Quintana Roo in Zona Centro, shortly before 6 p.m. He opened fire on men who had arrived in a white Chevrolet Tahoe. The occupants were also armed and shot back, killing him before driving toward Zona Río, the report said.
Municipal police and Red Cross paramedics found the attacker dead inside the business. Another man who had been inside during the exchange was found wounded nearby after running for cover.
Punto Norte reported that police later located a second wounded man at Paseo de los Héroes and General Manuel Márquez de León in Zona Río. He told officers he had been shot at the barbershop and that the Tahoe’s other occupants had let him out while fleeing.
Investigators traced the SUV to a parking lot on Paseo Padre Kino near the San Ysidro border crossing, where it was found empty with bloodstains on its doors. State prosecutor’s office investigators collected evidence at the scenes and found a firearm in the courtyard of a neighboring residential property.
The wounded men received paramedic care before transfer to hospitals. The dead man’s body was taken to the forensic medical service for identification.
