Eight men rescued from Tecalitlán property

Infobae México reports that authorities in Jalisco rescued eight men from a property in Tecalitlán after investigating the disappearance of a 20-year-old who had traveled toward a supposed ranch job. The eight people, all male and between 16 and 43 years old, were reportedly being held against their will, and the group included a minor. Infobae México says the property was allegedly linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, but that affiliation remains a report-based allegation rather than an independently established finding by the Wire.

The investigation began after a July 21 disappearance complaint in San Pedro Tlaquepaque, according to Jalisco state prosecutor Salvador González de los Santos. Authorities said a joint operation involving state and federal agencies located the missing man in early September and found seven other people at the site. The report says investigators recovered suspected drug material, medicines, orthopedic supplies, three pairs of crutches, tactical boots and 100 rounds of ammunition, while at least two of the rescued men had difficulty walking.

Five men and one woman, ages 21 to 48, were detained and placed before judicial authorities on suspicion of responsibility for crimes including human trafficking and disappearance committed by private individuals, Infobae México reports. The article says the six suspects came from several states and that the rescued men were taken to the Guadalajara metropolitan area for care and eventual reunification with their families. The Fiscalía of Jalisco said the investigation would continue; the allegations, the suspected use of the property and any eventual criminal liability remain subject to that process.
