What happened

Jalisco prosecutors say three of four suspected participants have been arrested in a case involving a man detained and later abducted in September 2025.

Reporting and context

A police officer was arrested in Guadalajara on November 7 on suspicion of involvement in the enforced disappearance of a man in Zapotlanejo, Jalisco, in September 2025. According to AF Medios, the Jalisco prosecutor’s office identified the detainee as Oswaldo Jhovan Arturo “N” and said officers executed an arrest warrant in the San Andrés neighborhood.

The investigation traces the events to September 8, 2025, when a municipal police officer allegedly approached the victim at a Zapotlanejo restaurant and questioned him about the whereabouts of suspected drugs. Prosecutors allege that the officer made a telephone call to receive instructions, detained the man and took him to the municipal police station.

The victim was reportedly released the following day, then intercepted on Zapotlanejo streets by armed, masked men wearing tactical equipment, allegedly members of a criminal group. Investigators say they took him to a property, beat him with boards and held him until his release on September 21, 2025.

AF Medios reported that investigators had identified four suspected participants and arrested three. The arrested officer was brought before the court that sought him. The prosecutor’s office said the investigation would continue to establish what happened and determine the responsibility of those allegedly involved.
