Army dismantles suspected meth lab in Santa María del Oro
El Informador reports the September 11 operation; no arrests were announced.
Federal forces dismantled a suspected methamphetamine laboratory in Petacala, in Jalisco’s Santa María del Oro municipality, El Informador reported on September 12, citing Mexico’s Defense Ministry. The operation took place on September 11.
According to the report, military intelligence and information shared by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations led authorities to the site. Army personnel took part with support from two Mexican Air Force helicopters and one National Guard helicopter, in coordination with the federal Attorney General’s Office, known as the FGR.
Officials reported finding five industrial reactors, five condensers and 1,635 liters of a raw chemical substance for distillation. The reported inventory also included powdered ammonia and calcium chloride. Federal prosecutors documented the materials and the disabling of the equipment at the location.
The Defense Ministry described a suspected connection to the Cártel de los Reyes. The official account cited by El Informador did not announce any arrests resulting from the operation.
