Reporting and context
Federal Security Secretary Omar Hamid García Harfuch announced 32 arrests in the State of Mexico on November 5, 2026, according to ZETA Tijuana. Authorities alleged that those detained belonged to Los Gigan, a criminal group they linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
García Harfuch said the deployment followed seven months of investigation. It involved 38 simultaneous operations aimed at extortion, homicide and other crimes, the outlet reported.
The authorities identified three alleged leaders by the aliases “Miky Juárez,” “El Gigan” and “El Pollo.” Officials accused them of involvement in extortion, drug offenses and illicit LP gas sales. Two municipal police officers from Nezahualcóyotl were also arrested, according to the report.
Personnel reported seizing firearms, narcotics and vehicles. The reported seizure also included approximately 178,000 liters of LP gas. ZETA attributed those figures and the account of the operation to the federal security announcement.
The operation brought together the federal Security and Citizen Protection Secretariat, Defense Secretariat, Navy, Attorney General’s Office, National Guard and National Intelligence Center. State of Mexico authorities coordinated with those agencies, with support from Pemex, ZETA reported.
In a message on X quoted by the outlet, García Harfuch said authorities would continue targeting criminal resources and protection networks. He also said public office and a union façade could not serve as protection for criminal activity.
