El Diario de Juárez reports that authorities seized five vacuum-sealed packages containing blue tablets weighing 5.87 kilograms during a warranted search in Misiones de Creel. Federal prosecutors will continue the investigation.

State and federal forces seized 5.87 kilograms of suspected fentanyl during a search of a home in Ciudad Juárez’s Misiones de Creel neighborhood, according to the Chihuahua state prosecutor’s office, as reported by El Diario de Juárez on Friday.

The home is at the intersection of Barranca Sinforosa and Museo Casa Chihuahua streets. The Northern District prosecutor’s office said agents found five vacuum-sealed packages marked “CH.” They contained blue tablets with characteristics consistent with fentanyl.

El Diario de Juárez reported that State Investigation Agency personnel assigned to the Strategic Operations Center carried out the search. A prosecutor attached to that center obtained the warrant following investigative work, the state prosecutor’s office said.

Personnel from the state Public Security Ministry, National Guard and Mexican Army participated in the joint operation. Those forces also provided security around the search perimeter, according to the state prosecutor’s office.

The seized drugs were turned over to federal prosecutors at the Attorney General’s Office, which will continue the investigation. The reported 5.87-kilogram total concerns the material seized in this search.
