State investigators found five vacuum-sealed packages of blue tablets during a warranted search in Misiones de Creel, the Chihuahua prosecutor’s office said. Federal prosecutors will continue the investigation.
Investigators seized 5.87 kilograms of suspected fentanyl during a court-authorized search of a home in Ciudad Juárez’s Misiones de Creel neighborhood, according to the Chihuahua state prosecutor’s office, as cited by El Diario de Chihuahua. The agency announced the seizure on Friday, October 16.
El Diario de Chihuahua reported that agents found five vacuum-sealed packages marked “CH” inside the house at the intersection of Barranca Sinforosa and Museo Casa Chihuahua streets. The northern district prosecutor’s office described their contents as blue tablets with characteristics consistent with fentanyl.
State Investigation Agency personnel assigned to the Strategic Operations Center carried out the search. A prosecutor from that center obtained the warrant following investigative work, the state prosecutor’s office said. State public security officers, the National Guard and the Mexican Army also participated in the operation and provided security around the search area.
The seized drugs were turned over to prosecutors at the federal Attorney General’s Office, which will continue the investigation. The article does not report any arrests or identify a suspected criminal organization.
