Alleged CJNG operator arrested in Campeche
Luces del Siglo reported that federal agents and Tabasco investigators arrested Noemí Cupil de la Cruz in Ciudad del Carmen under a criminal-association warrant. Authorities link her to a CJNG cell operating in Jalpa de Méndez.
Federal agents and investigators from Tabasco arrested Noemí Cupil de la Cruz, known as “La Patrona” or “Reina del Cártel de San Lorenzo,” in Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, under a warrant for criminal association, Luces del Siglo reported.
According to the Security Cabinet, the 46-year-old coordinates criminal activities in Jalpa de Méndez, Tabasco. Authorities identify her as an operator of a criminal cell linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, or CJNG, and describe her as a major source of violence in the region.
The report links Cupil de la Cruz to drug sales, extortion, homicides, kidnappings, vehicle theft and firearms possession. Those allegations form part of the authorities’ account; the arrest warrant described in the article concerns criminal association.
Jalpa de Méndez lies about 29 kilometers from Villahermosa, in the Grijalva River region and the Chontalpa area. Although authorities place her alleged activities in Tabasco, agents located and arrested her in neighboring Campeche.
The operation followed intelligence gathering and investigative work. Luces del Siglo reported that personnel from the Defense Ministry, National Guard, Security and Citizen Protection Ministry, National Intelligence Center and Tabasco state prosecutor’s office participated.
