Reporting and context
Armed men abducted an unidentified man outside a store in Culiacán’s Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood on Wednesday, November 4, according to Los Noticieristas Policiaca. The outlet cited authorities and witnesses who described the attack shortly after 3 p.m.
The victim had been traveling in an older, sand-colored Nissan Altima. His car was left with its doors open outside the store’s main entrance near Avenida Patria, Presidente Rómulo Díaz de la Vega street and the paved road leading to the Mercado de Abastos.
Los Noticieristas Policiaca reported that the attackers arrived in a newer-model vehicle and intercepted the man in the store’s parking area. They carried long guns and handguns, overpowered him and drove away toward the south of the city. His destination was unknown, and the report provided no identifying details about him.
Personnel from the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office and its investigative police arrived minutes later to gather information. Army personnel and state preventive police secured the area while investigators carried out their work. Afterward, the Altima was taken to the state prosecutor’s seized-property unit for safekeeping.
