Reporting and context
Three people detained in connection with a shooting attack on soldiers at Culiacán’s Feria Ganadera are suspected of links to Los Chapitos, according to the Defense Ministry account carried by Noroeste. The detainees are two men and a minor arrested in the Barrancos area of the city.
Noroeste reported that federal authorities described them as suspected members of a cell belonging to the Los Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, also called the Pacific Cartel. The ministry alleged that the cell operated under Víctor Manuel Félix Beltrán, identified as “El Vic.”
The Defense Ministry statement described Félix Beltrán as the brother-in-law of Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, known as “El Alfredillo,” whom it identified as a logistics coordinator for the organization. The alleged affiliations and chain of command come from that official account.
Follow-up operations after the attack resulted in the seizure of five weapons, 461 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, 18 magazines and 220 doses of assorted drugs, the report said. Authorities also seized a vehicle and a motorcycle reported stolen.
