The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the murder of tequila entrepreneur Adrián Corona, who had been missing since December 2025; this is how the investigations are progressing.
This Saturday, 3 January, the Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed the discovery of the body of tequila entrepreneur Adrián Corona, who had been reported missing since late December 2025. The case, which is already being investigated as a homicide, has caused consternation in the business sector in the west of the country. TRIBUNA shares what is known so far about the events.
What is known about the disappearance and death of the tequila entrepreneur
According to information provided by the State Prosecutor’s Office, Adrián Corona was abducted on 27 December while travelling to Puerto Vallarta with his partner and two children. The journey was through the Sierra Occidental region of Jalisco. The events took place at a spot known as Crucero Volcanes, where the vehicle in which the family was travelling was intercepted by armed individuals.

The attackers robbed the occupants of their belongings and then forcibly abducted the businessman, leaving his family behind. Following the report of the incident, authorities launched search operations in the area; however, in the days that followed, there was no information about the businessman’s whereabouts, nor were any ransom demands reported.
The Jalisco Attorney General’s Office reported that Adrián Corona’s body was found on December 29, just two days after his disappearance. The discovery was made alongside the highway, near the same location where he had been intercepted. Preliminary reports indicated that the body showed clear signs of violence, including blows and gunshot wounds.
After the corresponding forensic examinations and confirmation of his identity through genetic testing, the body was released to his family on Thursday, January 1, for funeral services.
Investigations suggest that the attack was directed specifically at the businessman, who was separated from his family during the assault. However, the Attorney General’s Office hasn’t yet detailed the motive for the crime or whether it was an attempted kidnapping that resulted in homicide.
The Regional Deputy Attorney General’s Office continues its efforts to clarify the facts and apprehend those responsible. To date, no arrests have been made, nor have any specific lines of investigation been disclosed.
Who was Adrián Corona?
Adrián Corona was the president of Grupo Corona, a family business dedicated to the production, marketing, and promotion of tequila and mezcal. Originally from Tonaya, Jalisco, he was a recognized figure within the distilled spirits industry in the state, with a career closely linked to the development of the tequila sector. Authorities continue to investigate this case.
